10 years of stone shop: looking back or looking ahead?
Ten years—is that a long time or a short time? From the perspective of progress in the footbikes, I would say it's actually quite a long time. We have had the opportunity to watch the biggest boom and development from the front row. And maybe even participate in it a little. Big wheels, carbon, numbers of racers and hobby riders outside the official association.
From a more or less one-sided store, we have moved on to offering as many options for testing, offers, and settings as possible. Sometimes we encounter obstacles of varying degrees, but when we see the customer after a while, we know it makes sense. The added value from our own experience and pre-sale interviews with each footbike enthusiast is often a set of conflicting requirements. For the most part, however, it is a matter of explaining concepts and impressions—not necessarily insisting on our own or borrowed interpretations.
We build custom footbikes, but there are limits we won't cross. We know how to race, we know how to organize races, and we have rental service. If your group agrees, we can organize a training session, afternoon, day, or weekend. We can come to your race with service, or you can just test a large number of models from most major brands.
It's been 10 years since the store opened, 13 years since we completed the Tour de France, and we're still here. Covid and the subsequent period shook the market in all directions. Everyone coped with it as best they could. We devoted our free time to further development and advancing our technical knowledge, duly tested in practice. In the complex, everything seems very simple, as long as you follow a set of small details that make the cycle go round. You could argue that it has always been this way, but the genius of the earlier 12" scooters and their riders still amazes me today. Big wheels don't always mean progress, and when it comes to movement as such, a little bit of ingenuity comes in handy.
Ten years ago, we introduced the Kickbike KOBRA, a trimmed and welded Race MAX 28 series frame weighing 5.5 kg (and it could be better). Then we took it from scratch and we are preparing an own frame. The long journey of changes, designs, redesigns, and supplier selection is slowly coming to an end. The knowledge we have gained along the way makes the world of scooters simpler and more straightforward again.
But we have more behind us than that, such a look back at our footbike past.
